Malaysian comedian Dr Jason Leong has added a show at the Athenaeum Theatre, Melbourne on April 22 due to popular demand! Tickets on sale now
In Brain Drain, former medical doctor and Malaysia’s funniest comedian (his words!), Dr Jason Leong explains why he will be leaving Malaysia for good. Brain Drain will open at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from March30 before heading to the Sydney Comedy Festival in April, then Adelaide and Perth Comedy Festival through May.
Dr Jason Leong has had a hectic couple of years, becoming the first comedian from Southeast Asia to have TWO comedy specials on Netflix - Hashtag Blessed (2020) and Ride With Caution (2023). He returns to Australia after putting his name well and truly on the world comedy map after selling out the global tour of his previous show Heaty, which culminated in Leong becoming the first Malaysian comic to appear at the prestigious invite-only Just For Laughs in Montreal.
Since he turned to comedy, Leong has been featured on Comedy Central, and performed in India, Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He was the first Malaysian to perform at Laugh Factory in Hollywood, as well as the prestigious Comedy Cellar, Caroline’s At Broadway and Gotham Comedy Club in New York City.

The main doors and box office open 90 mins prior to the start of each performance. The doors to enter the auditorium usually open 30 mins prior to the performance
Due to the nature of live performance, trying to find your way to your seat once a show has started can disrupt both the audience and the performers on stage. Therefore, most performances have a lockout period which restricts anybody from entering the auditorium until a suitable break in the performance. Depending on the performance, you may not be able to be seated in your original seat.
Packaged foods and cold drinks purchased at any of our theatre bars can be taken into the auditorium during the performance.
Hot drinks, glass and unpackaged foods will not be admitted into the auditorium.
No, unfortunately not. Therefore we recommend that patrons do not bring bags larger than a regular sized handbag or small backpack to the theatre.

Please note there is no elevator access to the Dress Circle & Upper Circle. Access to Athenaeum 2 is via our vintage lift which can only accomodate standard width wheelchairs.

No, interval drinks can not be pre-ordered.
If the performance or event that you were scheduled to attend is cancelled or postponed, we will be in touch at the earliest opportunity.
In the event of a cancellation, you will be given the option to either exchange your tickets to an alternative performance or the option for a full refund.
Should your event be rescheduled, your booking will automatically be valid for the new date and time. If you’re unable to attend, you will be given the option to either exchange your tickets to an alternative performance (if applicable), the option to receive a full refund.
There is no dress code. Casual attire is acceptable.
